Rock Hammer

The rock hammer was a custom tool created by Ed for his unique needs. It was used to manually smooth and flatten surfaces of the coral rock. This is evidenced by the coral rock encrusted in the gear itself. When holding the tool in your hand, the gear lays flat against the surface you’re working on, and you hold it by the threaded portion. Its usage becomes immediately apparent once holding it. This tool is made from a spider gear from a very large differential with a handle made from threaded steel scrap. The pictures don’t do it justice as far as size is concerned. The spider gear is almost big enough to be the ring gear in an automobile differential. The handle is solid steel threaded rod approximately an inch thick. The entire contraption weighs approximately 15 pounds.
