About Coral Castle

This remarkable structure is a testament to human determination and creativity.

Located in Homestead, Florida, Coral Castle is a unique and fascinating attraction that showcases the ingenuity and craftsmanship of its creator, Edward Leedskalnin. This remarkable structure is a testament to human determination and creativity.

Formerly known as Rock Gate, this modern megalithic structure was built over the course of 3 decades, by Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian immigrant. Leedskalnin, who had no formal training in architecture or engineering, constructed the castle using over 1,100 tons of coral rock, which he quarried, cut, and carved himself without the aid of any modern machinery. Instead, he accomplished this using only primitive tools he made using mostly old car parts.

The castle’s architecture incorporates astrological significance and intricate geometric patterns, reflecting Leedskalnin’s deep understanding of science and the natural world.

Since it is documented that no one ever witnessed Ed’s labor in building his beloved Rock Gate, some have said he had supernatural powers. Instead, Ed would only say he knew the secrets used to build the ancient pyramids and if he could learn them, you could too.

Today, Coral Castle invites you to explore its wonders with guided tours available every hour on the hour. Join us and uncover the secrets of this unique architectural marvel, considered one of the wonders of the world.
